Join Dr. James Baker our Chief Executive Officer and Chief Medical Officer for a welcome to Teen Summit.
This talk will provide an overview of common psychosocial concerns among adolescents with food allergy and their parents, discuss strategies that parents and adolescents can use to manage these concerns, and provide case examples.
During this session, we will attempt to set a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title! Our group will be the first to set a record related to food allergies, and if we are successful we will achieve the world record for delivering the “Largest Allergy Awareness Lesson.” We will host a discussion on understanding anaphylaxis and strategies for teens to be prepared, comfortable and confident enough to know what to do in an emergency, as well as how to talk to friends/peers to strengthen their support network should they experience a serious allergic reaction.
Topics will include an overview of food allergy and anaphylaxis, understanding associated signs, symptoms, and emergency protocol, and sharing of real life teen experiences.
This event will demonstrate to the public the importance of being educated about food allergies and anaphylaxis, and we are so excited for you to join us and be a part of this momentous occasion!
Most teens say this is the highlight of their weekend at Teen Summit! Dance, play games, capture memories in our photo booth, and have a blast making new friends. FARE requires teens under age 18 to be escorted from this event by a parent.
A critical component to Teen Summit, this closing session allows parents and teens to respond to each other’s questions submitted anonymously throughout the weekend. This moving and inspiring session, moderated by FARE staff, helps parents; teens and siblings better understand one another's view as they manage food allergies.
